Soccer Time

This past Sunday Nana came over to watch Evan and Jen and I took the kids to a big time soccer game. Manchester United, one of the best teams in England’s premiership, was in town as part of their summer tour of the US. First stop on the tour was against our very own Kansas City Wizards.

With 55,000 of our closest friends we cheered the Wizards on to a 2-1 victory. Man U didn’t bring all of their starters but it was still a great time and a pretty exciting game.

Little did we know when we purchased the tickets that our seats faced the sun, which wasn’t a big deal at the beginning since it was cloudy but about 30 minutes into it all it was very hot.

The kids were starting to bake at this point.

We had a good view of the field.

Shortly before half-time we joined the migrating fans as we walked around the top of the stadium to the other side that was in the shade.

On the other side of the stadium we saw an interesting bunch of fans. Not really sure what their story was but they were fun to watch as the jumped, sang and had a good time.

Hanging Out

The picture of the kids was taken the other morning after they had been playing up in Lily’s room. Jon and Lily stopped on the stairs and Evan just had to be right in the middle of them.

The sunset was from last night after the monsoon dropped 3 inches of rain in 40 minutes.

Road Trip Pictures

We really couldn’t have asked for a smoother trip on the drive back from Florida.

We left the airport at 3:00 PM and pulled into our driveway at 10:00 AM the next morning. Just in time to get the car unloaded, let the kids run around, eat lunch and then fall into a comatose like nap.

I was sorry I didn’t get to see everyone in Florida but glad the trip was uneventful. Jen drove us thru Atlanta and then I took the night shift to get us thru Tennessee, Kentucky and into Illinois.

Sunrise over St Louis

It is hard to believe it has been over a week since we all drove home from Florida. As we hit the home stretch of the drive I snapped this picture in St Louis as the sun had just come up.

The evening was going good and I actually thought I might get dinner ready before Evan freaked out due to hunger, and then I hear Jon say, “Evan I have a cookie.” Evan comes running looking for that cookie not realizing Jon was talking about a plastic cookie in the other room. Poor baby just melted down at that point.

Hibernation

Jon came downstairs and proclaimed, look at me I am all dressed in green, I am hibernating.

When we asked we discovered what he really meant was camouflage.
