You win some, you lose some

You try to do right by your kids. Teach them right from wrong. Show them what type of behavior is acceptable and what is not, and so on and so on.

Sometimes the lessons you give just don’t turn out quite like you had hoped.

Today Lily was trying to zip the pouch on her little golf bag and it was not working. She was yelling at the zipper, whining about how it wouldn’t close and just pouting over the whole thing. I was feeding Evan, Lily was up in the neighbors yard, and couldn’t figure out what was going on. So I ask what’s wrong and she goes into this whole pathetic tale about the zipper and how she is just trying to zip it up and it is not working and poor, poor, poor her. So thinking the zipper is stuck I tell her to try unzipping it and then try to zip it up. That was greeted with a snippy, the zipper is down! Fine, just yell and scream at it I tell her.

So she does just that. A couple of minutes later she says, I got it. And then shouts over to me, dad, yelling at it worked. Oh great, that lesson didn’t really work out like I planned.

Here is a picture of Lily after a dress up birthday party she went to on Saturday.

    Hi Ray!
Some of life’s lessons backfire. . . that sounds like one of them. Funny, but of all the things you try to teach her, yelling at something to make it work will probably be the one she remembers.
Thanks for the stories and the pics. Lily is adorable. Love the shirt. . . is that one from Auntie Bev?
    Love to all,
