The law of diminishing returns states,

In a production system with fixed and variable inputs, beyond some point, each additional unit of variable input yields less and less additional output.

My college economics professor gave a great example.

Suppose you had not eaten in days and someone places a plate of cheeseburgers in front of you. Before you eat one your satisfaction level is quite low. So you eat a cheeseburger, at that point your satisfaction level goes up, quite drastically since you are very hungry. You feel so good after that first cheeseburger you eat another one. Again your satisfaction level goes up. So you eat another one and another one and another one. Somewhere between your 5th and 10th cheeseburger your satisfaction level no longer increases but just the opposite, it goes down because you are now now feeling quite sick. The point where this happens is when your returns begin to diminish.

As you might have guessed my professor was quite a large man, I mean 5 cheeseburgers, who wouldn’t feel sick? But the point stuck and to this day I remember the concept.

What does this have to do with today’s post you ask?

I know that somewhere between one and five back to back Animoto videos my returns from this nifty concept will go down. But I had so much fun creating the one yesterday I am going to risk that two in a row is not too much.

So here is the set up. While Jon, Nana and I where in Oklahoma, Lily and Mommy had a girls weekend. They built a massive Lego city. Played lots and lots of Wii, ate by candle light, tried different hairdos and finally got their nails done. All in all it sounded like a great weekend and they both had a lot of fun. Mommy took pictures for me and I just had to turn them into a video.
