[5/12] Jon’s Hand

Have you ever seen or heard of a kid doing something that just baffles you? Yea, yea, yea, to be fair adults do some crazy things too. Take this couple for instance. It takes all types to make the world go round, I think their goal is to populate the world.

When I was a kid I never just placed my body in a chair. I had to slide, jump, flip or some combination of all to get into a chair. In school one year we had a big jar full of jelly beans in class, the kind where everyone get to guess how many are in the jar and one lucky kid gets a childhood worth of cavities for guessing right. Well this jar had a lid and I somehow managed to kick my feet in the air, while getting into my desk of course, and kicked the lid off the jar and onto the floor. I broke only the lid, not the whole jar. A move like this should have won me the jelly beans on pure style alone. My teacher couldn’t understand how I could have done that, I couldn’t either but the story stuck with me.

So Jon today managed to hurt his hand with his tractor rider. No one actually saw what happened but we think it went something like this. The wheels got stuck in the grass and were just spinning. Why or how we don’t know but Jon managed to reach his hand down to the wheel, while keeping his foot on the pedal. He then went on to get his hand and most of his arm under the spinning wheel. I still can’t picture how he did this, or what he was trying to do.

A quick trip to urgent care, some x-rays to make sure nothing was broken and he seems to be just fine. His hand is a little scraped up but it didn’t stop him from swinging one handed on the rope swing out back. The doctor was pretty surprised that his hand was just scraped up and they were sending the x-rays to a radiologist for a 2nd opinion. Lets hope he learned a valuable lesson, at least get off your rider before sticking your hand into the wheel.

What???? I’m still trying to picture what he did! Knowing Jon, it’s more than I can comprehend. I’m glad he’s okay. Do you really think he will learn a lesson from this???? It’s Jon!
    Love you all

We are all still trying to figure out what he did. I was bringing a box to the car and I see him walking towards me holding his arm, mouth open but no sound coming out. I had seen the wheels spinning on the stuck tractor a second earlier (not uncommon with Jon) and I thought nothing of it. So when I saw him walking towards me cradling his arm and crying this is what I said (yelled): “Did you stick your hand in a moving wheel? What have I told about touching moving things? You are so lucky it was only your arm!” Poor thing. Then he calms down enough to give me grief that I should have “caught him”. WHAT?? Like I was supposed to expect him to do something like stick his arm in the MOVING WHEEL!
And you all think he might learn his lesson??? Noooo. When Daddy got home from work and asks “What happened, Jon?” The little boy jumps on his tractor ride-on and says “Here, let me show you.”

The kid is priceless! Gotta love him!
I do expect both of you to be prematurely grey though!

Uncle Art wants to know why he didn’t get a phone call, he always loves to send get well presents! And we both hope Jon is ok, and I’m sure he could show you again just how it happened if you wanted. But let’s not!
