Later This Week...

Muma's Visit!
Muma came up for Lily's surgery to help take care of Jon (and the rest of us!) Muma and Jon had a great time together and he decided to eat us out of our home! I've never seen that boy put away food like that! At one point we were just throwing food t him; whole loaves of bread, whole fruit (remember the banana, Mom???)
The following two pics are from Muma.

I'm Sorry, Jon
I swear, we'll never leave you alone with Muma and dress up clothes again!

New Addition
As a get well present for Lily, the Fuller household now has a parakeet. Katherine will be happy to know we named him "Keeter". Thank you Muma, Grandpa George, Mem, Pep, Auntie Bevee and Uncle Artie!

Muma & The Kids

Lily's Surgery
As most of you know, Lily needed to have her tonsils and adenoids removed. Monday was her scheduled surgery and her father and I were a bit nervous. However, Miss Lily was a TROOPER! Monday morning Lily and I left for the hospital at 7AM and she didn't ask for any food for the entire ride!!! (Anyone who knows Lily's eating habits know that this was a small miracle in and of itself!) We found a great parking spot and then registered with security. We made our way to "Same Day Surgery" via the Unicorn and Lightning elevators and we saw lots of interesting things on the way. Children's Mercy is a GREAT hospital. We signed in and watched the other kids play while we waited to go back to the pre-op room. Lily thought the hospital gowns and the bracelets were cool but at one point she told me that she was done with them and it was time to take them off so she could have a snack. Her surgery was scheduled for 9 AM and that is the LONGEST she has ever waited to have something to eat! The doctor came in and asked a few last questions and then said it was time to go. I asked Lily if she wanted to take Nurse Robin's hand and she grabbed it and took off. We walked down the hallway and Lily just kept going and I didn't even get to say good bye! Dr. Wei said "It'll be okay, Mom. We're doing the right thing." And then I burst into tears and went to the waiting room. Apparently, Lily was AWESOME and got through the whole ordeal just fine. She was ready for some food as soon as we got to the room. It took a bit to convince her that she could only have apple juice. After a while, the nurses decided to give her some jello (just to keep her quiet) and she puked it up. See, Lily, we told you it wasn't a good idea!
After she rested she ate an entire dinner and was able to have the IV removed. She's been eating like a horse ever since!
One thing they told us about Lily is that her voice would change. I guess you don't really think about it until you get out of surgery and hear your kid talk for the first time! She has such a sweet little girl voice now; I just can't get enough of it! You did a great job Lily and we're all proud of you!

THANKS
I'd like to thank a bunch of people for helping us through this. It was harder than I thought it would be, but with the support of friends and family we all did just fine.
Thanks to my Mom for coming up from Florida to be with us and take care of Jon while we were with Lily. Thanks to Ray's Mom for coming up to the hospital and keeping Lily entertained (and for the balloons and flowers they wouldn't let her have!) Thanks to the rest of the family for all the well wishes and phone calls. I know you were here in your hearts.
Thanks to my friends Jennifer, Heather and Christine for being there the months leading up to this! You guys were awesome taking care of Jon and just listening to me when things got tough.
Thanks to the entire staff at Children's Mercy, especially Nurse Jim. Lily just fell in love with him. I do believe that it had something to do with the fact that he produced lots of food for Lily, but he was an all around GREAT guy! In fact, when Lily woke up Tuesday morning (at the hospital) she said "We need to call Jim."
Thanks to Miss Bobbie at Lily's School; she really enjoyed the card from all her little pals!
And, finally, thanks to Ray for being my greatest supporter and for being a SUPER DAD!

I forgot my camera (I was a little preoccupied.) But, I will get some pics of the kids and post them later this week!

Two Cents

Hi Everyone!
1st post again. Staying here does have its advantages!!!! I got to know when Jen did the Blog, 'cause I was watching Lily! I just loved being here, other than the fact that it's really, really cold--they said that this wasn't really cold, but apparently, their blood hasn't thinned out over the past 7 years!
Good story Jen. Lily was fantastic (and she still is doing great!), but it was delightful taking care of Jon. He's got his own little personality now and he's just so sweet. He has the cutest grin and shares it often. As soon as you walk into the room, he smiles and says "Hiiiii!" It's just too cute!
Lily is in here with me now and Jen just left me Jon too--gotta go!!
Love you all and thanks for the great visit I had.
Love always,
Muma

Glad to hear Lily did so good during her surgery. Sounds like she did better than Mom! Actually you did great too Jen, we're proud of you too. Glad Muma was able to go and help, and sounds like she had a lot of fun with Jon, but I agree I wouldn't leave her and Jon alone with dress up clothes anymore! We need to get new dress up clothes for Jon, like a fireman, or policeman outfit or something like that! Hope the kids are enjoying Keeter! Miss you all!
